How does LifeMD work?

LifeMD works as a membership-based telehealth platform powered by a proprietary technology stack and an affiliated 50-state medical group that connects you with U.S. state-licensed healthcare providers through video visits or secure messaging. After enrolling for $19 per month, you gain 24/7 access to discounted primary and urgent care services, same-day prescription capabilities, and discounted lab testing options.

- Getting started: Create an account and select your membership plan through the LifeMD website or mobile app. Your credit card is charged $19 for the LifeMD+ membership at the beginning of each billing cycle, and the subscription automatically renews unless you cancel through your account settings in the patient portal. The platform is built as a compliance-first system designed to support complex virtual care at scale, processing between 800 and 1,000 new patients daily.

- Accessing primary and urgent care: When you need medical attention, schedule a video appointment ($49 without insurance) or use message-based consultations ($19 without insurance) for non-urgent concerns. LifeMD's affiliated medical group includes full-time providers who deliver comprehensive virtual care for over 200 health conditions. Licensed providers can diagnose and treat over 200 acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in primary and urgent care, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), upper respiratory infections, sinus infections, bronchitis, allergies, asthma, and skin conditions (including acne, rashes, and eczema).

- Prescription and pharmacy services: If your provider determines medication is appropriate, prescriptions are sent to your local pharmacy for same-day pickup. LifeMD operates its own state-of-the-art affiliated pharmacy with capacity to process up to 5,000 prescriptions daily and offers exclusive pricing on medications through its healthcare marketplace. The pharmacy includes advanced non-sterile compounding capabilities to formulate customized medications including allergen-free and combination products.

- Lab testing: Testing is available through partners Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp, with results viewable online through your LifeMD patient portal. For specialty programs such as Weight Management, the process involves completing a health questionnaire, matching with a healthcare professional, and potentially undergoing required lab testing before receiving a personalized treatment plan.

- Joining specialty programs: If you’re looking for more focused, ongoing care, LifeMD also offers specialty programs such as Weight Management, Women’s Health, and Mental Health. These programs are designed to support longer-term health goals and include continued access to licensed clinicians who specialize in your area of care. Depending on the program and your individual needs, this may include ongoing check-ins, personalized treatment plans, and access to prescription medications when clinically appropriate. Care is delivered virtually, with the same emphasis on safety, continuity, and clinical oversight — so support is there as your needs evolve, not just at a single point in time.

You can manage all aspects of your care — including appointments, prescriptions, lab results, and billing — through the LifeMD patient portal.

Is there a monthly fee for LifeMD?

Yes, LifeMD operates on a monthly subscription model with fees starting at $19 per month for the LifeMD+ membership. This base membership provides 24/7 access to discounted primary and urgent care through video visits or chat messaging, same-day prescription services, and discounted access to lab testing.

Video appointments cost $49 without insurance, while message-based consultations are $19. Lab testing fees vary depending on the specific tests needed and the patient’s insurance coverage, if applicable. The subscription automatically renews each month unless you choose to cancel, and you can manage or cancel your membership at any time through your account settings in the LifeMD patient portal. Your credit card is charged at the beginning of each billing cycle.

Specialty programs — including the Weight Management Program, Women’s Health Program, and Mental Health Program — have unique monthly costs based on the subscription model selected. Some plans include the cost of medication, while others price medication separately. Details are clearly outlined at purchase. All specialty programs include base LifeMD+ membership benefits.

The membership model reduces the need for traditional insurance, though LifeMD does accept Medicare and some commercial insurance plans for eligible services. And in some cases — such as with the Weight Management Program — patients can explore discounted cash-pay pricing for several brand-name medications.

What conditions does LifeMD treat?

LifeMD treats over 200 health conditions through its virtual primary care platform, specializing in conditions that can be effectively diagnosed and treated through telehealth consultations.

- Primary and urgent care conditions: The LifeMD membership provides access to treatment for conditions such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), upper respiratory infections, sinus infections, bronchitis, allergies, asthma, and skin conditions (including acne, rashes, and eczema). These conditions can be addressed through video visits or, where appropriate, secure message-based consultations with U.S. state-licensed healthcare providers available 24/7.

- Specialized treatment areas: LifeMD focuses on several core service areas including women's health, weight management, sleep, and mental health. In addition to treatment under the LifeMD name, the company operates through specialized brands including Rex MD (for concerns around sexual health, weight, sleep, and testosterone) and ShapiroMD for hair health.

- Weight Management Program: The LifeMD Weight Management Program is a clinician-led approach to weight care that includes metabolic testing, ongoing clinical oversight, and support from licensed healthcare providers. For eligible patients, the program also provides access to prescription GLP-1 treatment options such as Wegovy® (pill and injection), Ozempic®, Zepbound®, and Mounjaro®.

- Mental Health Program: Professional psychiatric care is available for anxiety and depression — including expert diagnoses, video and message-based consultations, and prescription medication when appropriate.

LifeMD supports non-emergency care and is not suited for urgent situations that require immediate, in-person medical care.

What should I expect from my primary care physician?

Your primary care physician is a licensed medical professional who can evaluate symptoms, diagnose common conditions, and recommend appropriate treatment during your virtual visit. Care is delivered through secure, HIPAA-compliant video visits and messaging, ensuring your privacy and the protection of your medical information.

During your visit, your provider will focus on understanding your symptoms and relevant medical history to determine next steps. You can expect clear guidance, including diagnosis, treatment recommendations, prescriptions when appropriate, and instructions for follow-up care or escalation if needed.

Can I see a medical provider in-person?

LifeMD is a telehealth company. We offer a convenient, easy-to-use website and app for patients to access licensed medical providers from across their smartphone or computer screen. Patients can get a diagnosis, prescription initiation or refill, lab order, and more — all without leaving home.

What if I need to go to the hospital?

LifeMD virtual appointments are not intended for use in medical emergencies or for certain health conditions. If you are experiencing a critical or life-threatening medical issue, please call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately.

Can I get a lab order through LifeMD?

Yes, as a LifeMD member, you can get a lab referral sent directly to your patient portal by your LifeMD-affiliated provider. LifeMD has trusted lab partners across the U.S., making it easy to visit a location that’s convenient for you.

At-home lab kits are available for purchase in the LifeMD Shop to help you monitor key health markers, without leaving home. Due to state regulations, at-home lab kits are not available for patients residing in NJ, NY, or RI.

Does LifeMD require lab work?

LifeMD requires lab work for certain patients in the Weight Management Program, but lab testing is also available as an optional service for all LifeMD members (including patients in specialty programs) who desire or need diagnostic testing for various health concerns.

Weight Management Program requirements
Patients with a BMI of 25 or higher may be eligible for GLP-1 treatment, with or without a weight-related health condition. Lab work may not be required in this BMI range; however, your provider will determine whether lab testing is medically necessary based on your health history, symptoms, and treatment plan.

If labs are needed, your LifeMD care team will coordinate next steps. When completed at Quest or Labcorp, eligible testing is included in the program cost. State-specific requirements may apply.

Due to state regulations, LifeMD cannot cover lab service costs for patients residing in NY, NJ, and RI; these patients (or their insurance) will be billed by the lab directly. At-home testing options are available for purchase in the LifeMD Shop for patients outside of NY, NJ, and RI.

General lab testing access
LifeMD members can access routine and specialty lab testing for various health conditions beyond weight management. The platform partners with Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp to provide comprehensive testing options. Tests may be available as at-home kits that you complete yourself (due to state regulations, at-home lab kits are not available for patients residing in NJ, NY, or RI) or they may require an in-person visit to a lab facility.

Results are conveniently viewable online through your LifeMD patient portal. Lab costs vary depending on the specific tests ordered and your insurance coverage. While Weight Management Program lab work is included for most patients, other diagnostic testing may incur additional fees.

State-specific considerations
New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island residents will be billed directly by the lab facility for Weight Management Program testing due to state regulations, though insurance may cover these costs. At-home testing kits are available for purchase (cash pay only) as an alternative.

Does LifeMD offer STD testing?

Yes. If you and your LifeMD-affiliated provider believe that an STD test is warranted, your care team will send a lab order directly to your patient portal. Once you receive it, you can visit a nearby lab to complete your test(s). The results will be sent to your LifeMD patient portal.

Can my provider prescribe medications?

Yes, licensed healthcare providers can write medically necessary prescriptions to be picked up at the pharmacy of your choice (or in some cases, shipped directly to your home).

Please note: While LifeMD-affiliated providers are able to provide prescription initiations or prescription refills on most medications, they do not provide prescription initiations or prescription refills on controlled substances.

Can LifeMD prescribe antibiotics?

Yes. Licensed providers can prescribe antibiotics when they determine it’s medically appropriate, based on your symptoms, medical history, and a thorough evaluation during your virtual visit.

What is LifeMD’s policy on prescribing controlled substances?

While LifeMD-affiliated providers are able to provide prescription initiations or prescription refills on most medications, they don’t provide prescription initiations or prescription refills on controlled substances.

Please refer to the full list of controlled substances prior to making your appointment. LifeMD doesn’t offer refunds for appointments where controlled substance initiations or refills are requested, but not fulfilled.

How quickly can I get a prescription?

LifeMD offers same-day prescription services for eligible patients, making it one of the platform's key benefits for members needing quick access to medications. Please note that same-day prescribing does NOT apply to LifeMD specialty programs.

Same-day timeline: After your video appointment or message-based consultation, if your healthcare provider determines a prescription is medically appropriate, they can send it directly to your local pharmacy for same-day pickup. Same-day video visits to support fast prescription access and renewals are available 24/7 including weekends and holidays.

The prescription process works as follows:

- First, you schedule a video appointment ($49 without insurance) or initiate a message-based consultation ($19 without insurance) through the LifeMD platform.

- During your consultation, the licensed healthcare provider reviews your symptoms, medical history, and determines if medication is appropriate for your condition.

- If a prescription is warranted, the provider electronically sends it to your pharmacy of choice.

You can select any local pharmacy for convenient pickup. Home delivery options may also be available for certain medications. Prescription renewals for existing medications are particularly fast through LifeMD, with same-day refills available for ongoing treatments.

Specialty program timelines differ: As noted above, same-day prescribing does NOT apply to LifeMD specialty programs. In the case of specialty programs, some patients may prefer and/or be required to schedule a virtual appointment. Most patients still find this process more expedited and convenient than traditional brick-and-mortar healthcare. With LifeMD, patients start by completing a health questionnaire, then connect with a licensed healthcare professional soon after — either through a video visit or secure messaging, depending on what’s appropriate. Some patients may also prefer and/or be required to undergo lab testing before receiving a personalized treatment plan and prescription. The testing process is streamlined through partnerships with Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp, as well as at-home testing options. (Due to state regulations, at-home lab kits are not available for patients residing in NJ, NY, or RI). Results are conveniently viewable online through your LifeMD patient portal.

Prescription management is also handled through your patient portal, with appointments available if preferred and/or required.

Can I receive a doctor’s note or other medical forms?

Yes, you can receive a doctor’s note for up to 2 days maximum of short-term work absence. Currently, we do not complete any other forms such as jury duty release forms, FMLA forms, emotional support animal forms, etc.

What is the LifeMD+ membership?

LifeMD+ is the platform's base membership tier that costs $19 per month and provides comprehensive access to primary and urgent care services delivered entirely online. This membership unlocks 24/7 access to U.S. state-licensed healthcare providers through video visits or secure chat messaging.

Core membership benefits include

- Unlimited access to virtual urgent and primary care appointments at a discounted cost

- Same-day prescription services and fast refills for medications outside of LifeMD specialty programs

- Discounted access to the LifeMD healthcare marketplace for wellness products and resources

- Routine and specialty lab testing options through Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp partners

The membership provides low, upfront costs for consultations: video appointments cost $49 without insurance, while message-based consultations are $19 without insurance. These prices are significantly lower than many traditional urgent care visits.

How it works: Your credit card is charged $19 at the beginning of each billing cycle, and the subscription automatically renews monthly unless you cancel. You can access care anytime through the web platform or mobile app, with providers available even on weekends and holidays.

Licensed providers can diagnose and treat over 200 acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in primary and urgent care, including urinary tract infections, upper respiratory infections, sinus infections, bronchitis, allergies, asthma, skin conditions (such as acne, rashes, and eczema). The membership eliminates the need for traditional insurance, though LifeMD does accept Medicare and some commercial insurance plans for payment options.

Additional programs: The $19 LifeMD+ membership is also included when you enroll in specialty programs like Weight Management, Women's Health, or Mental Health. These specialty programs have separate pricing structures.

Can I get an appointment on weekends or holidays?

Yes! LifeMD+ offers 24/7 access to licensed healthcare providers, including weekends and holidays. Appointments are available within an hour, ensuring you can receive care when you need it most.

Is LifeMD+ covered by insurance?

LifeMD offers both cash pay and insurance-eligible program options. The platform accepts Medicare and some insurance plans for select services.

- What's covered: The LifeMD+ monthly membership fee, which includes access to discounted video appointments and message-based consultations for general primary and urgent care, is not generally eligible for insurance coverage. Some insurance plans may cover the video appointment fee or message consultation cost, though this varies by your specific insurance provider and plan and may require a copay.

- What's not covered: Lab testing coverage depends on your location. LifeMD may be able to offer patients discounted cash pay options at Quest Diagnostics and Labcorp locations in most states. However, patients in New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island will be billed directly by the lab due to state regulations, though personal insurance may cover these costs.

The membership-based model is designed to provide affordable care without requiring insurance. LifeMD offers transparent, upfront pricing so you know costs before receiving services.

What is not included in the LifeMD+ membership?

While LifeMD+ is included at no additional cost once you’ve qualified for a LifeMD specialty program like Weight Management, Women’s Health, or Mental Health, a standalone LifeMD+ membership does not guarantee automatic access to these programs. Enrollment in each LifeMD specialty program is a separate cost and requires separate medical eligibility and approval. Additionally, LifeMD+ does not cover the cost of prescription medications or lab work. If recommended, these services are handled separately.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes, membership renews automatically each month but can be managed or canceled anytime through the LifeMD patient portal.

Because coverage varies by state, plan type, and medication, we recommend reviewing our private insurance coverage page) and Medicare coverage page for the most up-to-date information.

What if my insurance doesn’t cover the cost of medication?

Many patients choose to move forward with a cash-pay option, which includes medications like Zepbound® vials starting at $299 or Wegovy® starting at $199, with pricing and availability dependent on medical eligibility and current supply.

How much weight do people lose with GLP-1s?

In clinical studies, patients lost 15-20% of their body weight* using GLP-1s. Our easy-to-use Al tool provides you with a personalized estimate based on your current weight. See how much weight you can lose!

What is the LifeMD Weight Management Program refund policy?
Does LifeMD prescribe Ozempic®?

Yes, LifeMD can prescribe Ozempic® through its Weight Management Program for eligible patients when deemed medically appropriate by your healthcare provider. While Ozempic® is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, it may be prescribed off-label for weight loss. The program also offers FDA-approved weight management medications like Wegovy® and Zepbound®, which are specifically indicated for weight management.

Step-by-Step: Getting an Ozempic® Prescription

- First, you complete a comprehensive health and medical history questionnaire when signing up for the Weight Management Program.

- Via video or message-based consult, you're matched with a healthcare professional who reviews your information and determines if a GLP-1 medication is medically appropriate for you.

- If desired or required, you'll undergo lab testing including a metabolic panel.

- Your provider reviews these results before creating a personalized weight loss plan and writing a prescription.

Program Costs and Support
The cost of the Weight Management Program starts as low as $75 monthly (for an annual plan), which includes ongoing medical support and regular metabolic testing to monitor your progress. This program is entirely online.

The cost of prescribed GLP-1 medication is not included in the cost of the program. For patients on the Triple Therapy regimen (a combination of metformin, topiramate, and bupropion), medication is included in the cost of the plan.

Throughout treatment, you maintain regular contact with your LifeMD-affiliated provider who monitors your progress and adjusts your plan as needed.

In many cases, your medication can be delivered directly to your door.

What weight loss medications can I be prescribed?

With LifeMD, getting started with effective and personalized weight loss treatment is simple. Our Weight Management Program offers a variety of prescription medications tailored to your unique health profile, goals, and insurance situation. During your evaluation, we’ll consider your medical history, biomarkers, and any preexisting conditions — along with your budget and long-term weight goals. We’ll also conduct a free insurance benefits check to determine whether GLP-1 medications are reasonably covered under your insurance plan.

If clinically appropriate, you may be prescribed a brand name GLP-1 medication such as Wegovy® or Zepbound® (FDA-approved for weight management), or Ozempic® and Mounjaro® (FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, with coverage typically tied to that diagnosis). Self-pay options are available for select brand name medications. LifeMD also offers a non-GLP-1 option called Triple Therapy — a combination of metformin, bupropion, and topiramate — which provides a comprehensive oral approach to weight loss.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to weight management. That’s why we’re here to help you find the right treatment for your body, your lifestyle, and your circumstances — and to support you every step of the way.

What is Triple Therapy?

Triple Therapy is a doctor-trusted treatment plan that consists of three medications (metformin, bupropion, and topiramate) combined in carefully selected doses, with the aim of supporting your weight loss goals.

What are the advantages of Triple Therapy?

There are many benefits to using Triple Therapy as part of your weight loss journey. Here are three of the numerous reasons patients like this treatment:

It’s an oral treatment. No need for needles, wipes, or additional supplies. Simply take the prescribed pills each day — and you're set!

It’s cost-effective. A Triple Therapy subscription — which includes the cost of medication — is typically significantly less expensive than monthly costs associated with GLP-1 therapy, helping you save money while managing your health.

It’s accessible. Patients who don’t medically qualify for prescription GLP-1 medications may still qualify for Triple Therapy.

Who is eligible for Triple Therapy vs. the GLP-1 program?

The Triple Therapy program is intended for patients who do not meet the BMI requirements to start a GLP-1 program but still seek help managing their weight. The BMI threshold for GLP-1s without a comorbidity is 30. Anyone with a BMI of 25 or greater may be eligible for the Triple Therapy medication pack.

What is the process of getting Triple Therapy?

First, complete a free, online medical intake form. Then, you can join the LifeMD Weight Management Program (if you are a candidate) and schedule an appointment with a LifeMD-affiliated healthcare provider. If appropriate, treatment will be prescribed.

Note: Lab work to assess your kidney and liver function is strongly recommended. In some cases, your provider may require lab work to be completed prior to your first refill. You will be notified if the LifeMD care team has ordered lab work for you, and the lab order will be in your patient portal. If lab work is required, your refill may be delayed until the lab work is completed.

To complete your lab work, you can go to your nearest Quest or Labcorp location. Alternatively you can purchase an at-home kit from the LifeMD Shop. Due to state regulations, at-home lab kits are not available for patients residing in NJ, NY, or RI.

How do you use Triple Therapy?

Take the prescribed pills by mouth each day as directed by your LifeMD-affiliated healthcare provider. For the first 30 days, most patients are instructed to take three pills, once a day, with or without food. After 30 days, many patients are instructed to take three pills twice a day (a total of six pills in total). Your LifeMD-affiliated provider will provide more specific instructions on when and how to use your treatment.

Can I pick up my prescription at my local pharmacy?

If you are prescribed a brand-name GLP-1 medication such as Wegovy® or Zepbound®, prescriptions can often be sent to the pharmacy of your choice, depending on availability and other factors.

Can I return my weight loss medication?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns of prescription products for reuse or resale, and all sales are final. However, if you feel we have made an error in the filling of your prescription, please contact us.

How can I cancel my LifeMD Weight Management Program membership?

To cancel your subscription, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to your LifeMD patient portal
2. Click on your name and avatar icon on the left side of the screen
3. Select "Account Settings"
4. Navigate to "My Membership"

What is the LifeMD Women's Health Program?

The LifeMD Women’s Health Program is a personalized, evidence-based approach to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and lifestyle support for women navigating perimenopause or menopause. The program is designed to help relieve symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, mood changes, reduced libido, and more — while supporting long-term health and well-being.

A licensed healthcare provider will create a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals. Your care will include access to prescription HRT (when appropriate), secure messaging with your LifeMD care team, regular check-ins to assess your progress, and tools that support healthy aging — all from the convenience of your phone or computer. Medications available through the program, if clinically appropriate, are one form of estradiol medication (patch, insert, gel, or cream). In addition to one of these estradiol therapies, the majority of women with a uterus will also be prescribed micronized progesterone. This is a bioidentical form of progesterone that’s processed into very fine particles for better absorption. Its main role is to protect the uterine lining from overgrowth that can occur when estrogen is used alone.

Thyroid medication may also be prescribed if your lab results show a need for additional thyroid support.

Whether you're noticing early changes or have already transitioned through menopause, the LifeMD Women’s Health Program offers flexible, expert-led care built around you.

What conditions does the program treat?

The LifeMD Women's Health Program offers specialized treatment to address common symptoms associated with the menopause transition — including hot flashes, night sweats, brain fog, mood changes, weight shifts, sleep disturbances, and decreased libido.

What's included in the LifeMD Women's Health Program?

The program includes access to provider consultations, a personalized treatment plan, secure messaging, and prescription management.

Medication costs vary based on the treatment prescribed and your individual care plan.

- Bundled plan: As part of the bundled care experience, medications (estradiol gel, patch or vaginal tablet — and progesterone and/or thyroid medication, if appropriate) are included in the cost of the plan and are dispensed in 90-day supplies. This option offers predictable pricing, streamlined refills, and ongoing clinical oversight.

- Pay-As-You-Go plan: Medications and all appointments are priced separately. Some women prefer this option for the added flexibility and the ability to pay as they go. Many medications start as low as $10/week, and pricing includes the convenience of home delivery. Insurance is not required. If you choose to use insurance, your LifeMD-affiliated provider can call in the prescription to your local pharmacy for pickup.

Membership in the Women’s Health Program comes with a LifeMD+ membership, which offers 24/7 access to urgent and primary care, prescription renewals for medications outside specialty programs, and a marketplace for clinically validated health and wellness products. Educational resources, tools for healthy aging, and invite-only group coaching are also included at no additional cost.

What medications may be prescribed?

Medications that may be considered are estradiol, micronized progesterone, and thyroid replacement if necessary. The hormones prescribed through LifeMD are bioidentical, meaning they have the same chemical and molecular structure as the hormones naturally produced by your body. Customized programs may include different strengths, routes and dosing schedules for medications. Your provider will work with you to determine the most appropriate option(s) based on your symptoms, preferences, and medical history.

How is my treatment plan personalized?

Your treatment plan is tailored to you — your symptoms, medical history, goals, and personal preferences. Your LifeMD-affiliated provider takes all of this into account to make sure your care feels both safe and supportive. What is HRT, and how do I know if it’s right for me?

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a treatment that replaces the hormones — primarily estrogen and progesterone — that decline in a woman's body during perimenopause and menopause. HRT may help relieve common symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, and/or vaginal dryness.

To determine whether hormone therapy (HRT) is appropriate for you, you’ll first complete a detailed medical intake form outlining your symptoms, health history, and goals. You’ll then connect with a licensed healthcare provider (via video or through a message-based consultation) who will review your symptoms, your overall health profile, and your preferences regarding treatment. If you're experiencing bothersome symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, or mood changes — and your LifeMD-affiliated provider determines that HRT is clinically appropriate — it may be recommended as part of your treatment plan.

Do I need a video visit to receive treatment?

It depends on your membership plan. Some plans begin with a live video consultation to establish care and determine whether hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is appropriate for you. This visit allows your provider to review your health history, discuss your symptoms, and ensure your care starts off on the right foot.

Other plans can begin with an asynchronous (message-based) consultation, where your provider reviews your intake information and follows up with you through secure messaging.

After treatment begins, follow-ups may take place via video or secure messaging, depending on your plan, your progress, your preferences, and your clinical needs.

What should I expect during my first appointment?

During your first video appointment, your LifeMD-affiliated provider will take time to understand your symptoms, medical history, and personal health goals. This initial visit helps build a complete picture of your health and lays the foundation for a treatment plan that’s tailored to you.

What happens after I start treatment?

After you begin treatment, you’ll stay connected with your provider through regular check-ins in the LifeMD patient portal. These updates will help your provider track your progress, address any concerns, and make adjustments to your treatment plan as needed.

If medication is prescribed, your provider will guide you on how to take it safely. You’ll receive regular check-in questionnaires and renewal prompts — you can stay connected with your LifeMD care team through secure messaging in the patient portal.

Your membership in the LifeMD Mental Health Program also gives you access to:

- LifeMD+, for urgent and primary care outside of mental health, with appointments available in an hour or less.

- 6S Wellness appointments, offering one-on-one support to help you sleep better, manage stress, stay active, and build supportive lifestyle habits.

LifeMD+ and 6S appointments are available at a low, upfront cost per consultation.

What types of mental health conditions does LifeMD treat?

LifeMD offers two distinct care plans, depending on the type and frequency of your symptoms — and the kind of support you’re looking for:

- Social or performance anxiety is supported with prescription medication taken only as needed. This approach is designed to help you manage high-stress moments — such as public speaking, interviews, or social events — without the need for daily medication. The medication is included in the cost of your monthly membership of $49 per month.

- General anxiety or depression is supported with a daily prescription medication. This plan provides steady, ongoing support for your mental well-being. The medication is included in the cost of your monthly membership of $99 per month.

What is included in the LifeMD Mental Health Program?

The LifeMD Mental Health Program offers flexible, personalized care to support your mental and emotional well-being. Here’s what’s included:

- Prescription medication (included in the cost of your membership):

1. For support of social or performance anxiety, you’ll receive a set amount of medication each month for use during high-stress moments.

2. For support of general anxiety or depression, you'll receive a 30-day supply of medication each month.

- Ongoing care coordination, renewals, and dose adjustments. On a regular basis you’ll be prompted to complete a short check-in questionnaire. Your responses help your provider evaluate how the medication is working, monitor for side effects, and make any needed adjustments. Over time, your dosage may be adjusted to ensure the treatment remains safe and effective.

- Secure messaging with your LifeMD care team. You can message your provider or care team anytime through the LifeMD patient portal — whether you have questions, need guidance, or want to share updates between renewals.

Access to additional programs services: As part of your membership, you’ll also have access to LifeMD+ (which offers virtual urgent and primary care for needs outside of mental health) with appointments available in an hour or less. You’ll also be able to schedule 6S Wellness appointments, which provide support to help you sleep better, manage stress, stay active, and build positive lifestyle habits. LifeMD+ and 6S appointments are available at a low, upfront cost per consultation.

- For support of social or performance anxiety (medication taken before specific high-stress situations), care is typically managed through secure messaging. After your initial intake is reviewed, you’ll receive a set amount of medication each month as part of your subscription, and you can message your care team with questions or concerns at any time. Note: Depending on your state, a video visit may be required before treatment begins.

- For support of general anxiety or depression (daily medication), you'll begin with a video visit to meet your provider, discuss your symptoms, and create a care plan. After that, your care continues through secure messaging — with regular medication renewals, check-ins, and dosage adjustments as needed.

Regardless of your plan, you’ll have access to your LifeMD care team through the patient portal, and your prescription medication will be shipped directly to you when appropriate. Every step of the process is handled virtually, so you can get the care you need from wherever you’re most comfortable.

How do I get started with the LifeMD Mental Health Program?

You'll begin by completing a brief online intake that asks about your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. - For support of general anxiety or depression ($99/month): Your plan includes a 30-day supply of medication each month. You’ll also complete a short renewal survey every few weeks so your provider can evaluate how you’re responding, check for side effects, and make dosage or medication adjustments before your next refill is approved.

Medication is included in the cost of your monthly membership. If you have any questions between renewals, you can message your LifeMD care team through the patient portal.

What medications does LifeMD offer for sleep?

LifeMD offers ramelteon (generic Rozerem), doxepin (generic Silenor), and trazodone (generic Desyrel).

Ramelteon is a melatonin receptor agonist used to help patients who have sleep-onset insomnia (difficulty falling asleep) fall asleep more quickly. It works similarly to melatonin, a natural substance in the brain that is needed for sleep.

Doxepin is a hypnotic (sleep) medicine that is used to help people who have trouble staying asleep. Doxepin has not been shown to cause physical dependence or withdrawal symptoms.

Trazodone is a serotonin modulator used off-label to help people fall asleep and stay asleep through the night. It blocks histamines known to cause wakefulness, making you feel drowsy and ready for sleep.

How do I know if I’m eligible for LifeMD sleep medications?

In order to obtain prescription sleep medication, you must complete an online doctor visit that includes a simple questionnaire. During your online provider visit, please disclose if any of the following apply to you:

- A history of depression, mental illness, or suicidal thoughts

- Severe sleep apnea

- Kidney or liver problems

- A history of drug or alcohol abuse or addiction

- A history of glaucoma or urinary retention

- Any other medical conditions

How much do LifeMD sleep medications cost?

Pricing for LifeMD sleep medications varies based on the type of medication prescribed and the length of supply — which may be one, two, or four months. For example, a one-month supply typically starts around $72-$78, with longer supplies offering lower per-pill costs.

Are sleep medications from LifeMD addictive?

No. While controlled substances like Ambien pose a high risk for dependency, the medications prescribed through LifeMD are generally nonaddictive with a lower risk of dependency and safe to use on a regular basis.

How can I get ramelteon?

LifeMD has made getting a prescription for ramelteon simple and affordable. Just click the ‘Get Started’ button on the LifeMD ramelteon page to start your free telehealth consultation.

You’ll complete a brief medical questionnaire, which provides your healthcare provider with the information needed to determine whether ramelteon is an appropriate treatment option for you. If prescribed, your medication will be shipped directly to the address you provide. Quality sleep is essential to your overall health — and accessing care shouldn’t be complicated. LifeMD makes the process straightforward and convenient.

Is ramelteon FDA-approved?

Yes. In 2005, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Rozerem (ramelteon) for the treatment of insomnia characterized by difficulty with sleep onset. The FDA approval allows physicians to prescribe ramelteon for long-term use in adults.
