Metoprolol succinate is a daily medication prescribed in doses ranging from 25 mg (milligrams) to 450 mg daily. Metoprolol succinate injections have a dosage of 1mg/mL. Recommended dosage depends on the condition being treated and how the body responds to the drug.
If you miss a dose, do not take more than one dose at a time. Wait to take your next scheduled dose if it is already well past the time of the missed dose. It’s important to finish your dosage as instructed by your healthcare provider.
Both metoprolol succinate and metoprolol succinate can be used to treat high blood pressure and manage heart rate. However, metoprolol succinate may produce higher drug concentrations than metoprolol tartrate.

Using the following medications while taking metoprolol succinate may reduce effectiveness and increase the risk of side effects:
- Fluoxetine
- Parozetine
- Rifamycin
- Calcium channel blockers
- NSAIDs
- OTC cold medications
