Frequently Asked Questions

Still don't see what you’re looking for? Learn more

  • Do you accept insurance?

No. The LifeMD membership fee enables us to provide a level of personalized service (via technology and access to great doctors) that is not typically reimbursed by most insurers.

  • Can I see a doctor in-person if I need to?

No, LifeMD is solely defined as a telehealth company. We do not have any physical walk-in clinics, however; physicians are still able to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications via digital consultation.

  • What if I need to go to the hospital?

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the ER immediately. As a telehealth company, we are unable to provide surgical or trauma services.

  • Can I receive a doctor’s note (or other medical forms)?

Yes, you can receive a doctor’s note for up to 2 days maximum of short-term work absence. We do not complete any other forms such as jury duty release forms, FMLA forms, emotional support animal forms, etc.

  • Can you refer me to a specialist?

Yes. We can refer you to specialists across all 50 states. We provide you with access to top specialists, regardless of where you are.

  • Can I change my primary care physician?

Yes. We will match you up with the provider that is the best fit for you.

  • What is primary care?

Primary Care refers to medical care you need first - before getting sick, before needing to see a specialist, before a hospital visit. Our goal is to prevent medical issues that may arise.

  • What should I expect from my primary care doctor?

From your primary care doctor, you'll have a trusted expert you can rely upon when you have a health issue–an urgent matter, general questions, and when you seek out a specialist or hospital care.

  • Can my doctor prescribe medications?

We make it easy to request and renew prescriptions. Licensed doctors can prescribe your necessary prescriptions and our nationwide network can deliver you medications right to your doorstep.

  • What is LifeMD's policy on prescribing controlled substances?

While LifeMD affiliated doctors are able to provide prescription initiations or prescription refills on most medications, they do not provide prescription initiations or prescription refills on controlled substances.

Please take note of the full list of controlled substances prior to making your appointment; LifeMD does not offer refunds for appointments where controlled substance initiations or refills are requested, but not fulfilled.

  • How does LifeMD handle labs, imaging, bloodwork, and other tests?

Through our partnerships, we can send a nurse directly to your house to perform the necessary labs and/or bloodwork. Or, if you prefer, we can send you directly to Quest Diagnostics, LabCorp, or any other convenient facility.

  • Does this replace insurance?

No. You should keep your insurance in case of a medical emergency. Your LifeMD doctor can refer you to specialists if/when needed.

  • Does LifeMD offer STI/STD testing?

Yes. If your doctor believes that a lab test would be beneficial for you, they can order a lab test for you. After receiving the lab order, you'll visit a lab location, have your lab test(s) run, and the results should be sent to you from LifeMD within 3-5 business days.
