- Irregular heartbeat

Voltaren is one of the topical gel brand name versions of diclofenac sodium. However, diclofenac sodium is also available as a generic cream for arthritis pain or as a tablet.
Diclofenac sodium is stronger than ibuprofen. It takes smaller doses of diclofenac sodium to have the same effects as ibuprofen.
Be sure to follow directions from a licensed healthcare provider on the proper dosage to apply. Using more than four doses of Voltaren can lead to adverse side effects.
Diclofenac can have effects in the body within the first four hours. Diclofenac sodium may stay in the body for up to three weeks.
Generally, diclofenac sodium is not recommended during pregnancy. Be sure to talk to your LifeMD-affiliated healthcare provider before using diclofenac sodium while pregnant.
The following medications may interact with diclofenac sodium:

- Ibuprofen (Advil)
- Naproxen (Aleve)
Be careful not to apply sunscreen or other cosmetic lotions and moisturizers to the area where you apply diclofenac sodium gel. It’s recommended to avoid extended exposure to real or artificial sunlight.
Diclofenac sodium is not recommended for long-term use unless approved by your healthcare provider.
You can apply the next dose as soon as you remember. However, if it’s close to the time of your next scheduled dose, you can skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply more than four doses of Voltaren in a day. Be sure to listen to a healthcare provider's directions on how to properly apply Voltaren.
